Book Donations Sought for Buddy Book Bins Project

“A child’s ability to read has a direct impact on how they perform in school and in life,” share the members of the United Way Women United.  “By providing books and reading opportunities earlier in life, we can start children in a positive direction. The ability to read is a gift that every child deserves.”

Women United is currently seeking donations of new or lightly used, clean, appropriate books for its Buddy Book Bin project.  Books can range from board books for infants and toddlers through children’s early-reading chapter books.  Books can be dropped off at United Way of Otter Tail & Wadena Counties.

The Buddy Book Bins program is the newest project implemented by the Women United.  The Buddy Book Bins are crates placed at businesses and other popular locations throughout Otter Tail & Wadena Counties.  They are supplied with new and lightly used books for children birth to age 8.  Children can borrow the books as they wait, or take them home if it becomes a beloved favorite. There is no cost for the children to participate in this project or for the crate sites to host a Buddy Book Bin crate.

Book donations can be dropped off at United Way of Otter Tail & Wadena Counties in Fergus Falls or Perham.

Women United is a committee of the United Way of Otter Tail & Wadena Counties. This dedicated group of women has implemented a multifaceted plan to get books in the hands of every Otter Tail & Wadena Counties child. For more information about this project or to provide a monetary donation, please contact United Way of Otter Tail & Wadena Counties office at 218-736-5147.
